Volvo claims an all-electric range of 40 kms on the XC90 T8 Inscription

The 2018 Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 96.65 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). Volvo has started local assembly of the XC90 in India but only the diesel variants are being assembled in the country, the T8 Inscription is sold as a CBU. Having said that, the T8 Inscription variant undercuts the T8 Excellence trim by over Rs. 34 lakhs (and that’s huge money!) and is also the only plug-in hybrid SUV at this price point.

The 2018 Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription is the range-topping 7-seater SUV with a hybrid powertrain. It comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged as well as supercharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces a combined power output of 407 HP (320 HP from the engine and 87 HP from the electric motor) and 640 Nm of torque. The powerplant comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Swedish carmaker claims a 0-100 km/hr time of 5.8 seconds and an all-electric range of 40 kms.

In terms of features, the Volvo XC90 Inscription petrol is similarly equipped as the XC90 Inscription diesel which means you get features like 4-zone climate control, 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, panoramic sunroof, ventilation function for the front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, air suspension, HUD, 7 airbags, collision avoidance and radar-based adaptive cruise control.
