2021 Jeep Compass Facelift Gets No Face Lift, India Bound

FCA gives mild internal updates to the Jeep Compass.

The grille, headlight and even the bumper remains unchanged

It can neither be called a mid-cycle refresh nor a facelift. Yes, we are talking about the 2021 Jeep Compass facelift that gets no changes at all visually.

The headlights, grille, bumpers, tail lights, everything remains unchanged apart from the new alloys. There are 6 new alloy wheel designs on offer and 5 new colour options in the US.

The interior gets subtle changes like new soft touch material on the dashboard and door pads. There is a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and latest UConnect 5 software.

Some of the safety features include Forward Collision Warning, LaneSense Departure Warning, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM), etc.

There are front, side and curtain airbags on offer. Driver aid systems include Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, ParkView, Automated Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist.

These are all high-end equipment for the international market which we are not expecting to come in the Indian version. We hope the India-spec Compass update comes with some visual changes too.

The new Compass comes with improved dynamics. Shock absorbers get Frequency Selective Damping valves which reduce body roll and pitch. Moreover, FCA claims the steering is lighter and more progressive.

There is a new 1.3-litre turbo petrol motor that replaces 1.4-litre unit. 1.3-litre unit is available in 2 states of tune – 130 PS and 150 PS while torque remains the same at 270 Nm.

130 PS version comes with 6-speed manual while 150 PS is offered with 7-speed DCT auto. The 1.3-litre petrol motor is also available with 2 plug-in hybrid powertrains offering 190 PS and 240 PS outputs.

These 1.3-litre plug-in hybrids offer all-wheel drive in the form of 4xe where electric motor drive the rear axle.

The updated Jeep Compass is expected to launch in India by 2021.
