The asking price of the 2022 Maruti Baleno rises till Rs. 9.49 lakhs for the top model

Maruti Suzuki has introduced the 2022 Baleno today in India. The asking price of the completely revised the premium hatchback starts from Rs. 6.35 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The country’s top automaker has made changes to the car’s design on the outside and inside despite the fact that it has continuously outsold its competition by a large margin.

For 2022, the Baleno will come with a new grille, new bumpers, lights and revised boot lid. It will be offered with colour choices such as Grandeur Grey, Luxe Beige, Nexa Blue, Opulent Red, Pearl Arctic White and Splendid Silver.

On the inside, the premium hatchback gets a new dashboard with metal-esque inserts, a larger screen and centre console and a new steering wheel. Although interior space remains the same, the cargo volume is now 318 litres instead of 339 litres.

The car now has a sliding front armrest, rear air-con vent, rear USB port, and cruise control too

Up until now the Baleno could not be called a feature-rich car. But, that has changed. Even the base Sigma grade comes with LED tail lamps, keyless entry, central locking, full power windows, automatic climate control, reverse parking sensors, dual front airbags and more.

Moving up the variant ladder (to Delta, Zeta and Alpha), customers will be able to get auto LED headlamps with DRLs, LED fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, auto-folding ORVMs, 7- or 9-inch touchscreen, OTA system updates, voice assistant, Suzuki Connect, Alexa Connect, auto-dimming IRVM, head-up display, Arkamys sound system, and a 360-degree camera too.

It is 3990 mm long, 1745 mm wide, 1500 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2520 mm

A sole 1197cc, 4-cylinder petrol engine delivering 88.5 BHP at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm of torque at 4400 RPM will power the car. The motor, which gets a new hydraulic clutch system and idle start-stop (ISS) tech, can be paired to 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT (Delta, Zeta and Alpha grades only).

Maruti has increased the car’s weight for 2022, it now weighs between 920 kg and 960 kg. The premium hatchback’s claimed fuel economy figures are as follows – 22.35 km/l for manual and 22.94 km/l for AMT.

Maruti claims to have given the car an all-new suspension system

In terms of safety, the Baleno comes with up to 6 airbags, ABS, EBS, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, ISOFIX anchorages, seat belt reminder for front passengers, Brake Assist, among other features.

Finally, Maruti Suzuki has also announced that it will offer 2 accessory packages – Elegrande (all-weather 3D mats, seat over, interior styling kit, illuminated door sill guards, body side moulding and more) and Novo-spirit (dark colour scheme, champagne accents, front and rear skid plate, upper grill garnish, bumper corner protectors and more) – for its premium hatchback.

The car is also available for a monthly subscription fee of Rs. 13,999/-
