2024 Mercedes GLS gets updated looks, mild changes inside and new features

The GLS petrol is priced at Rs. 1.32 crore while the diesel costs Rs. 1.35 crore

2024 Mercedes GLS launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 1.32 Crore for the GLS 450 petrol and Rs. 1.37 Crore for the GLS 450d diesel (ex-showroom). The facelifted model was revealed globally in April last year. It comes with mild updates on the exterior and interior along with a longer list of features on offer.

In terms of styling, the overall design remains the same as expected from a German mid-cycle refresh. However, there are some styling tweaks that makes it look fresh. It gets a larger grille with 4-slat ‘in-your-face’ design, love it or hate it but you can’t ignore it. The lights retain the same shape but get new detailing inside, same goes for the tail lights. Other changes include new front and rear bumpers.

The interior too looks more or less the same but the most prominent change here is the new steering wheel. Apart from the steering, there are very minor changes in terms of styling like upholstery colour scheme, which will be offered in multiple options.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes with the updated generation of the MBUX system with revised user interface. It also gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The MBUX has three different display styles (classic, sporty and discreet) and three modes (Navigation, Assistance and Service).

The standard Parking Package with 360‑degree camera offers the “transparent bonnet” function that shows a virtual view under the front of the SUV when Offroad mode is active.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 comes with a 3.0-litre, in-line 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine under the hood. It produces 381 BHP and 500 Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. It does 0-100 km/hr in a little over 6 seconds. There are only Comfort and Eco modes on offer, no Sport mode. The second engine option is a 3.0-litre diesel powerplant making 367 HP and 700 Nm. Both the engines get an additional boost of 20 HP and 200 Nm thanks to the mild hybrid system’s ISG.
