2027 Audi Q7 Revealed – Third Generation Model, India Bound

Audi has revealed the third generation Q7, bringing a comprehensive redesign to its flagship midsize luxury SUV. Replacing the long-serving second-generation model that remained in production for more than a decade, the new Q7 adopts fresh styling, a technology-focused cabin and a revised approach to seating configurations.

Positioned between the Q5 and the upcoming Q9 in Audi’s global SUV lineup, the latest Q7 is underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. The platform supports a range of electrified powertrains and introduces several advancements in connectivity, comfort and driving technology.

One of the most notable changes is the shift away from a standard three-row layout. Unlike its predecessor, the new Q7 will be offered as a five-seater in base form, with buyers able to opt for either a six-seat configuration featuring second-row captain chairs or a conventional seven-seat arrangement.

The exterior design adopts Audi’s latest styling language, featuring split headlamp clusters, a larger front grille and more upright proportions. At the rear, connected lighting elements and a redesigned bumper give the SUV a more contemporary appearance. Depending on the variant, wheel sizes can range from 20 inches to 23 inches.

Inside, the cabin receives a major overhaul with a dashboard centred around a three-screen layout. Premium materials, ambient lighting and a redesigned centre console contribute to the upscale feel. Audi has also equipped the Q7 with a long list of features, including a panoramic sunroof, advanced driver assistance systems, connected car technology, electrically adjustable seats and a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.

The SUV offers practical improvements as well. Audi claims a luggage capacity of up to 670 litres in the five-seat version, while the seven-seat model provides 581 litres of boot space. Folding the seats expands total cargo capacity significantly.

At launch, Audi has disclosed details of a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine paired with mild-hybrid technology. The powertrain will be available in two outputs: 245 HP and 500 Nm, and a higher-spec version producing 299 HP and 630 Nm. Both variants come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system as standard.

Audi says the mild-hybrid system can provide additional power assistance during acceleration, while the engine is also compatible with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), a renewable fuel claimed to significantly reduce lifecycle carbon emissions compared to conventional diesel.

The new Q7 will be offered with steel spring suspension as standard, while adaptive air suspension will be available as an option on selected variants.

Order books for international markets are set to open this month, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin from September 2026. Pricing in Europe starts at €87,900 for the entry-level diesel version, rising to €90,500 for the more powerful variant. While Audi has not yet confirmed an India launch timeline, the new-generation Q7 is expected to eventually make its way to the local market.
