2026 Hyundai Exter gets design updates, new features, unchanged powertrains
Hyundai has introduced the 2026 iteration of the Exter in India with a starting price of Rs. 5,79,900/- (ex-showroom). The updated compact SUV brings a set of visual revisions along with feature additions while retaining its existing powertrain options.
On the outside, the Exter sees subtle styling updates aimed at refreshing its appearance. It now gets a revised front grille finished in black, reworked front and rear bumpers with silver accents, and a new set of 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Additional elements such as thicker wheel arch cladding, a redesigned C-pillar garnish and a roof-mounted spoiler contribute to a slightly more pronounced SUV stance.
Inside the cabin, Hyundai has introduced a new dual-tone Navy and Grey colour theme. The interior also gets a few functional and aesthetic updates, including metal pedals and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Practicality has been addressed with the addition of a folding driver armrest, while features like height adjustment for the driver’s seat and adjustable rear headrests are now standard across all variants.
In terms of equipment, the Exter continues to build on its feature list. It now offers a dashcam, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Type-C charging port for rear passengers. Other features include an electric sunroof, connected car technology with over 60 functions, and voice commands that can operate without internet connectivity.
Safety equipment remains a key focus, with six airbags offered as standard. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) are also included, along with a broader set of standard safety features.
Mechanically, there are no changes. The Exter continues with the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, available with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Hyundai also offers a factory-fitted CNG option, which uses a dual-cylinder setup. This configuration helps retain usable boot space, rated at 225 litres, and includes an underbody-mounted spare wheel.
The updated Exter is available in multiple colour options, including two new additions: Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte.
