2026 Mercedes GLS Facelift Revealed

The new Mercedes-Benz GLS takes the idea of a full-size luxury SUV and pushes it even further. It is often called the S-Class of SUVs, and with this update, that statement feels more true than ever. The German automaker has aimed to offer more comfort, more presence, and smarter technology, all coming together in one package.

The GLS 450 4MATIC comes with a 3.0-litre inline-6 turbo petrol engine producing around 375 hp and 560 Nm of torque, making it strong yet smooth for everyday driving. The GLS 580 4MATIC takes things to another level with a 4.0-litre V8 engine producing around 530 hp and 750 Nm of torque, delivering effortless performance. Diesel options like the GLS 350d and 450d focus on efficiency and long-distance comfort, offering strong torque and better fuel economy. All engines get mild-hybrid support, which adds extra boost and improves overall smoothness.

Comfort is where the GLS really stands out. The suspension now uses cloud-based technology that can adjust itself before the car hits a bump. This makes the ride feel softer and more controlled, especially for passengers sitting in the rear seats. In fact, the rear seat experience has been improved even further with new comfort features, turning it into a space where you can relax or even work while travelling.

Technology is a big highlight here. The latest operating system with artificial intelligence makes the GLS feel like a smart companion. The MBUX Superscreen, which comes as standard, adds a modern touch to the cabin with a large glass display that covers the dashboard. It is easy to use and keeps everything connected, from navigation to entertainment.

The design changes are more about presence than drama. The bigger grille with chrome detailing, illuminated elements, and the upright Mercedes star on the bonnet give the GLS a stronger road presence. It looks more premium and more confident, without losing its classic identity. Inside, the cabin continues to offer massive space, three rows of seating, and a true sense of luxury.

The GLS and GLE facelifts are expected to be launched in India together, most probably early next year.
