2026 Renault Duster Fuel Efficiency Revealed

2026 Renault Duster offers competitive mileage with strong turbo-petrol performance credentials

Renault has announced the official fuel efficiency figures for the 2026 Duster’s 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, giving a clearer picture of what buyers can expect from the midsize SUV. These figures are ARAI-certified and apply to the higher trims, as the entry-level powertrain’s efficiency data is yet to be disclosed.

The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, available from the Evolution variant onwards, produces 163 HP and 280 Nm. It is offered with two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch automatic.

According to the released data, the manual version delivers a claimed mileage of 17.75 km/l, while the DCT variant offers a slightly higher figure of 18.45 km/l. As is often the case with turbo-petrol engines, real-world efficiency is likely to vary depending on driving conditions and throttle inputs.

When compared to rivals in the segment, the Duster’s numbers fall within a competitive range. The Skoda Kushaq equipped with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and DCT gearbox claims 18.72 km/l, marginally higher than the Duster. However, despite its larger engine, the Kushaq produces slightly lower power and torque figures, while also benefiting from features such as cylinder deactivation and an additional gear.

The Volkswagen Taigun, which shares its powertrain with the Kushaq, delivers a claimed mileage of 19.01 km/l, making it one of the more efficient options in this space.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta’s 1.5-litre turbo-petrol DCT variant returns 18.4 km/l, placing it just below the Duster’s automatic variant in terms of claimed efficiency. The Creta produces marginally lower power and torque and uses a 7-speed DCT.

Overall, the Duster’s fuel efficiency figures position it well within its segment, especially considering its relatively smaller engine paired with competitive performance outputs. However, a complete assessment will depend on real-world driving conditions and the yet-to-be-announced figures for the base engine option.

The 2026 Renault Duster is priced between Rs. 12.99 lakhs and Rs. 18.49 lakhs (ex-showroom), placing it firmly in the competitive midsize SUV category.
