Akula 310 Production Model To Be Called TVS Apache 300

TVS AKULA310 Concept 2

Though the BMW G310R is completely engineered by BMW Motorrad, the vehicle would be manufactured in India by TVS. Backed up with three decades of experience, TVS is set to pump in the racing DNA into the Akula 310.

While BMW G310R is a commuter based bike, TVS Akula 310 is track focused

TVS-BMW combo is certainly one of the most anticipated collaboration in the two-wheeler industry. The naked G310R is the smallest in the German manufacturer’s stable and the faired version Akula 310 would be heading the cavalry for TVS. The single-cylinder 313cc, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection churns out 34 BHP power and 28 Nm torque, transmitting the same to a 6-speed gearbox.

Though the first commercial of the BMW G310R is out, the details of the production version of the Akula 310 is still hush-hush; we got exclusive details of the TVS-BMW offering straight from Hosur. The Indo-German collaboration would not be offering the street-fighter G310R to the Indian market. As of now the G310R is planned for exports (European market) where it would be poised as an entry-level bike for amateurs and female riders.

The TVS Akula 310 was first showcased at Auto Expo earlier this year and it is known that this faired beast would be housing the same powertrain of the BMW G310R. As per our source, the name ‘Akula’ would be confined only to the concept where as the production version would be labeled as ‘Apache 300’. Sighting inferior fuel quality and to match the Indian drive cycle, the 313cc motor is tuned down to what we estimate a power output of 29-32 BHP.

Alike the Yamaha R25/R3, the production version of the TVS Akula 310 would be bulkier when compared to the sleek concept; the design is said to be properly proportionated. The Apache 300 would be carrying the dynamics of the Apache family and will not be aggressive like KTM’s RC series. As of now, the project is on schedule and the launch is planned in November (most probably Diwali), the on-road price is expected to be Rs. 1.9 – 2.2 lakhs.
