Aprilia’s 250-300cc Bikes Delayed

Aprilia has been planning to enter the commercial bike segment with 250-300cc models.

Aprilia recently introduced the GPR 250 in China

It all sparked with the showcase of the two very interesting 150cc concept motorcycles at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Tuono 150 and the RS 150. Aprilia had originally planned to launch motorcycles in the 150cc segment. However, it changed its plans as the market has rapidly moved towards the higher-capacity segment. Sadly, the company has now revealed that the production will be delayed.

The reason for the delay isn’t specified but it is related to the development of an all-new platform that will support Aprilia’s 250-300cc offerings. Aprilia is likely to manufacture the upcoming motorcycle in India, which will help the bike maker keep costs in check.

Though these products will be developed keeping India in focus, they will be global products and will head to several international markets as well. Apart from India, East Asian markets will also be the key markets for Aprilia’s upcoming motorcycles, where affordability is the key factor.

The premium motorcycles are likely to be equipped with many segment-best features as well as high-quality components. There is no specific timeline or confirmed launch date, but, Aprilia might showcase the concept at the upcoming EICMA in November.

Aprilia’s 250-300cc Bikes

– Aprilia could offer the new product under a faired RS guise and a naked Tuono version
– The upcoming motorcycle is likely to be manufactured at Piaggio’s Baramati plant
– The motorcycles will rival KTM, Suzuki and Honda’s 250cc offerings

India bound motorcycles may use a similar platform
