Bajaj Auto To Launch Two Full Faired Pulsars In 2013

It’s official now. Bajaj Auto will launch not one but two fully faired versions of the Pulsar. The company doesn’t really do much at Auto Expos which is a good thing as the launch will take place by October 2013 and one needn’t wait for the overhyped Auto Expo to see these new sporty Pulsars. Bajaj Auto is seeing a slight decrease in sales and this move is aimed at boosting volumes amidst the slowdown in the 2-wheeler market. The company has maintained since the start of this year about its plans to launch two variants of the Pulsar in 2013.

However little did we know that both the Pulsars to be launched this year will get full fairing. Till date Bajaj Auto hasn’t launched a single full faired motorcycle with all their launches either being naked or semi-faired. With the launch of full faired bikes, Bajaj Auto will attract a new genre of buyers to the Pulsar fraternity, who give more importance to style over performance. The fairing does add to the weight of the motorcycle but gives better aerodynamics at high speeds.

“Pulsar is number one sports bike in its category in India and we will launch two super sports bikes under this brand by the middle of this financial year,” Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, said.

Rajiv Bajaj also states that the upcoming Pulsar will be the first super sports bike made by an Indian 2-wheeler company and will recalibrate the sports bike segment. It will be an all-new Pulsar. So we can expect the upcoming Pulsar 375 to be called Pulsar 375 SS (Super Sports).

We all are already aware about one of the upcoming full faired Pulsar. It is none other than the Bajaj Pulsar 375, which will share components with the KTM Duke 390, producing around 40 BHP of power and 32 Nm of torque. Expect the Pulsar 375 to be priced around Rs. 1.5 lakhs. The other bike could be a 180cc or 200cc Pulsar which is priced around the Rs. 1.1 lakh mark. These faired Pulsars will compete with the Yamaha R15, Honda CBR150R and Honda CBR250R, giving them sleepless nights in the process. Exciting times ahead for Pulsar maniacs.

Note – The first image is our speculative rendering of the Pulsar 375. The second image is a modified Pulsar 220 which has no bearing on the Pulsar to be launched later this year.
