Bajaj Not Planning Any Electric Motorcycle

Bajaj Chetak Electric

Bajaj’s European partner KTM sells an electric motorcycle in the international markets.

The Bajaj Chetak has been launched at Rs. 1 lakh, ex-showroom

Post the launch of its first electric offering in India, the Chetak electric scooter, Bajaj has announced that it won’t be working on any electric motorcycle anytime soon. It could be that the company wants to focus on one electric offering at the time.

However, it is to be noted Bajaj’s European partner KTM already sells an electric motorcycle in the international markets – the KTM Freeride EX-C. It gets a 3.9 kWh removable Lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that produces 18 kW (24.5 PS) of maximum power and 42 Nm of maximum torque. It offers three riding modes, including a limp home mode which kicks in when the battery drops below 10%.

Besides, the upcoming 4 kW Freeride Light may be seen as a probable starting point for a Bajaj electric motorcycle, till then, it’s the Chetak electric scooter bearing the baton.
