Bajaj Likely To Launch Pulsar CS 200 In 2016

Pulsar CS400 Studio Shot

Bajaj is contemplating to launch the CS 200 that will be based on the CS 400 shown at last year’s Auto Expo and is likely to share its underpinnings with the RS 200.

The CS 400 came with several interesting bits including twin consoles & aggressive styling

Things got really exciting at the Bajaj pavilion at last year’s Auto Expo when the automaker showcased the Pulsar SS 400 and CS 400 performance motorcycles. The concept managed to excite Pulsar lovers and bike enthusiasts alike and a year later, the Pune based manufacturer launched its first full faired Pulsar the RS (Race Sport) 200 with design cues from the SS 400. Now in a recent statement, Eric Vas, President of Bajaj Auto’s motorcycle business hinted that there could be a Pulsar CS 200 as well in the pipeline.

Launched earlier this year, the Pulsar RS 200 opened to positive reviews as the new flagship Pulsar and has been designed to look exactly like the SS 400. Keeping the same philosophy in mind, we reckon the CS (Cruiser Sport) 200 will be following the CS 400 in terms of design, retaining the aggressive styling and possibly the twin instrument consoles; while the powerplant will be carried over from the RS 200. Hence, the 199.5 liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine will be plonked under the belly of the sports cruiser with ABS to be offered as optional.

Bajaj has been rampantly expanding the Pulsar family this year with the RS 200, AS 200 and AS 150 as well as the upcoming Pulsar 150 NS. The Pulsar CS 200, if given the green signal will kickstart an all-new segment of sports cruisers in the country and will help the automaker grow further. At present Bajaj is assessing the possibility of bringing the cruiser sport offering; however, a timeline for launch wasn’t indicated by the manufacturer. Apart from the CS 200, Bajaj is also working to update the Avenger this year that continues to be a steady performer for the manufacturer.

Compared to the over-the-top RS 200, the CS 200 will be more sedate in styling
