Pulsar 200 SS Likes To Hang Around With The Karizma

2014 Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS Spyshot

The Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS (Super Sports) is being extensively tested on the Indian roads. It has been yet again spotted and this time around, the location is at Lavassa near Pune. Bajaj Auto has been testing prototype bikes across different climatic regions around the country. Recently, two prototype bikes were spotted in the Ooty hill station. The Pulsar 200 SS is in essence a fully-faired version of the Pulsar 200 NS which is already on sale in India.

The Pulsar 200 SS is expected to be launched in 2 variants. The base variant will not feature the ABS safety feature while the top version will come with the ABS as standard and the engine may be tweaked slightly for performance. Fuel injection technology will be incorporated for better performance and ease of firing up the engine even on chilly mornings. This could be one of the reasons for the bike to have been repeatedly spotted at the hill station. Tall clip-on bars and a large RPM meter with digital speedo makes up for the instrument cluster. The Pulsar 200 SS features twin projector headlamps. The tail lamp and the rear view mirrors are also new. This bike comes with alloy wheels and disc brakes for both wheels.

The heart of the Pulsar 200 consists of a 200cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine producing 23 BHP of power and 18.3 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox. However, the power output will be slightly bumped to compensate the increase in weight due the fairing. The coefficient of drag on this bike will be reduced due to the upright windscreen on the front fairing. The split seats add to the sporty character of the bike. The Pulsar 200 SS will directly rival the Hero Karizma ZMR, Yamaha R15 and the Honda CBR150R. A launch event is anticipated to happen in the next few months and the bike is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.20 lakhs (ex-showroom).
