Bajaj To Launch New Platform For Discover On 15th October

Bajaj Auto will announce the launch of an all new platform for the Discover on the 15th of October, 2013. The event was scheduled for today (10/10/2013) but was canceled after the company learned about the media events already planned for the day (BMW 5-Series facelift launch and Hero MotoCorp’s new lineup showcase). Bajaj Auto hasn’t specifically mentioned about the exact details of the upcoming Discover in the media invite but we all are aware about the company’s plans to launch multiple variants of the Discover to boost market share.

Bajaj Auto is currently betting big on two models in India, Discover and Pulsar. While the latter is for enthusiasts, the former is aimed at the mass market. Bajaj Auto is moving towards product branding from umbrella branding which means Discover, Pulsar will be the main brand itself. The company hasn’t focussed on the Avenger off late and there are no plans to update the cruiser as the market potential for such a product remains limited. However as far as the Discover goes, 6 new models are planned.

Out of the 6 new Discover models, one has already been launched, the Discover 125T while the 100T was introduced earlier this year and has seen good response from the market. Other Discover models on sale include the Discover 100, Discover 125 and Discover 125 ST. Bajaj Auto is likely to launch the Discover 150 later this year, which is certain to get petal discs (both front and rear), monoshock rear suspension and a 4-valve engine. The company is expected to launch the highly awaited Pulsar 375 next month.
