The Benelli TRK 502 BS6, Leoncino 500 BS6 India launch will happen by the end of this year, the manufacturer has confirmed.

The bikemaker had only recently launched the Imperiale 400 BS6 cruiser at Rs. 1.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and now intends to get all of its products in India comply with BS6 emission norms.

Other models that will come are the Leoncino 250 and the TNT 600i with both of them slated to be launched next year.

Benelli has revealed that testing, as well as homologation processes have already begun for the 500cc TRK 502 and Leoncino 500 motorcycles.

The manufacturer has blamed the current situation for delays caused ahead of the BS6 bike launches, stating that due to COVID-19 and the lockdown, it is facing supply chain disruptions. Also, testing and certification is taking longer.

One good thing is that Benelli is not facing any labour shortage since its plant manpower is local to Hyderabad.

On a global scale, Benelli is planning to strengthen its position in the 750cc and above segment. It had recently unveiled the TRK 800 and Leoncino 800 models for the same.

These bigger displacement offerings will be coming to our shores after the Benelli TRK 502 BS6 launch, but the time frame will be towards the end of 2021.

Also, the firm says it is not looking at exports as of now since its current plan is to increase its retail and service footprint in India. It is only logical that Benelli India wants to gain market share before making the country an export hub.
