BMW Brings M Power To 2016 Auto Expo

The ‘M’ stands for Motorsports and is used by BMW for its performance spec vehicles and the automaker showcased the X1, X3, X5 M Sport along with the M4, M6 Gran Coupe and X6 M at the 2016 Auto Expo.

While a lot of performance vehicles were missing from different manufacturers, BMW brought M Power to the 2016 Auto Expo. The German automaker showcased the M4, M6 Gran Coupe, X6 M and X3 M Sport while it launched the X5 M Sport and X1 M Sport at the biennial event.

The M Sport is a performance kit by BMW that enhances the performance of the vehicle. The X1 is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine in India that produces 190 BHP at 4000 RPM and 400 Nm of torque between 1750-2500 RPM while mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The M Sport package on the X3 is only offered with the xDrive30d variant which is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine that produces 258 BHP and 560 Nm of torque with an 8-speed gearbox.

The BMW M4 is a coupe based on the 3-Series with a performance spec engine and body kit. It is powered by a 3.0-litre petrol motor that produces 431 BHP between 5500-7300 RPM and 550 Nm of torque between 1850-5500 RPM while mated to a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox. The M6 Gran Coupe is the performance variant of the standard 6-Series Gran Coupe and is powered by a 4.4-litre petrol mill, belting out 560 HP and 680 Nm, matched to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

The X6 is a coupe based on the X5 SUV and the X6 M is the performance spec model. The X5 M Sport and X6 M are powered by a 4395cc, twin-turbo, eight-cylinder engine that produces 575 HP and 750 Nm of torque while paired to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Other than this, the vehicles sport carbon-fibre finishes on the outside and features such as M drive, etc.
