BMW F 450 GS Bookings Paused As Initial Allocation Gets Fully Reserved

BMW Motorrad has temporarily stopped accepting bookings for the F 450 GS in India after the motorcycle’s initial allocation was fully reserved. The development comes even before customer deliveries of the adventure motorcycle have begun in the country.

BMW is expected to reopen bookings for the F 450 GS around September or October 2026. Until then, prospective buyers may have to wait for the next allocation cycle to secure a booking.

Demand for the motorcycle appears to have been strong across several major cities. Prior to the booking pause, dealerships in markets such as Mumbai and Bengaluru were reportedly quoting waiting periods stretching close to 12 months. In cities including Hyderabad and Kolkata, delivery timelines were said to range between six and eight months.

Customers who placed their orders towards the end of last year are expected to begin receiving their motorcycles from next month onwards. However, with the current allocation already accounted for, new customers could face extended waiting periods even after bookings resume.

The situation has sparked speculation about the reasons behind the long delivery timelines. While strong customer interest is likely to be a contributing factor, production capacity could also be playing a role. The BMW F 450 GS is manufactured by TVS Motor Company at its Hosur facility, which also produces the TVS Apache RTX. Notably, the Apache RTX has also been witnessing extended waiting periods in recent months.

At present, it remains unclear whether the delays are primarily due to production constraints, supply-chain factors or prioritisation of export markets. BMW Motorrad has not officially commented on the exact reason behind the temporary booking halt.
