Officials have hinted that the upcoming BMW G310R price tag could be lower than the TVS Apache RR 310.

The BMW G310R will be launched in a few weeks from now

Since TVS has now successfully launched the much-hyped Apache RR 310 in the market, all attention has shifted to the next contender in the performance motorcycle space which is also the first product derived from the partnership between BMW Motorrad and TVS. We’re talking about the BMW G310R. Earlier this year, the company postponed the launch in India due to an insufficient number of distribution outlets. However, BMW Motorrad’s positive reply to a fan’s question on Facebook has certainly cleared the air.

When a fan asked them about the probable launch date and price of the G310R with respect to the Apache RR 310, the reply received read “As of now, we are in the process of finalizing launch dates. G310R will be priced competitively as it is a mass market product. Exact price will be revealed at the launch which will take place in a few weeks time” which points towards an early 2018 launch and a price tag which could undercut the faired cousin as well.

Sharing its underpinnings with the BMW G310R, the Apache RR 310 carries a price tag of Rs. 2.05 lakhs (ex-showroom, Chennai) which positions it at par with the competition. Being a naked street-fighter design, the BMW G310R could be priced slightly lower or at par with the Apache. There is no doubt that the motorcycle will sell like hotcakes if priced under Rs. 2 lakhs (ex-showroom) because the BMW badge carries a lot of value in our country. The G310R will also be the most affordable motorcycle from the brand and will compete with the likes of the Mahindra Mojo and KTM Duke 390.

The BMW G310R is powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder engine which develops 33.5 BHP of power and 28 Nm of torque. The liquid-cooled motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension setup comprises of USD forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear, while braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes (300 mm front and 240 mm rear) on both the wheels. Produced at TVS’ production facility located in Hosur, the G310R has received a big thumbs up from international media for its quality and overall package.
