BMW i5 imported to India directly via CBU route, available in range topping trim

BMW i5 M60 xDrive launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 1.19 crores (ex-showroom). The all-electric version of the 5-Series will be positioned between the i4 and i7 models in the Indian market. The German luxury carmaker will introduce the ICE version later this year in India.

Arriving in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), the i5 is offered solely in its top-spec M60 xDrive variant. With the addition of the i5, BMW now offers a total of five electric vehicles in India, including the iX1, iX xDrive50, i4 and i7 models.

The i5 M60 xDrive is equipped with a 601 HP electric powertrain and 83.9kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP range of 516 km on a single charge. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 230 km/hr. Additionally, BMW offers various charging options, including an 11kW wall charger and an optional 22kW AC charger, along with DC fast charging capability.

In terms of design, the India-spec i5 features sportier elements unique to the M60 xDrive variant. These include a distinctive kidney grille with illumination, sleek LED headlights with integrated DRLs and a dynamic rear design. Customers can choose from a range of metallic exterior paint options, with Alpine White being the sole non-metallic choice.

Inside the cabin, the i5 boasts a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen equipped with BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 OS provide intuitive control and entertainment options. There are M-specific enhancements, such as carbon fiber trim and performance-oriented displays. Some of the other features include sports seats, a panoramic sunroof, 4-zone climate control and a Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

BMW India offers a standard 2-year/unlimited km warranty for the i5, along with an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty for the battery.
