The 2012 Auto Expo is going to be one of the largest auto shows of the world and all the major OEMs, be it small or big are leaving no stone unturned to make their presence felt at the motor show my showcasing and launching their models at the show. We have been receiving news from different manufacturers about the products they are going to showcase. Recently BMW has announced that it is going to display it’s all new M5 saloon at the Auto Expo to be held from January 7th to 11th, 2012. We have already listed the new M5 in our new cars to be launched in 2012 post. The 2012 BMW M5 will be priced at Rs. 99 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and will attract people looking for a fast family saloon.
The new M5, like all the previous M5s has grown more subtle in its styling and yet shows hints of aggression at places like the lower intake which feature a three gaping ducts that work as air intakes to channel air flow to the radiator, oil cooler and the turbocharger. The M5 is powered by a 4.4 litre V8 that produces 552 BHP of power and 69.4 kgm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox with paddle shifts mounted near the steering wheel. The gear box sends the power to a new Active M differential with electronically controlled, multi-plate, limited slip differential at the rear and can propel the car from o to 100 kph in 4.4 seconds to a top speed of 200 kph in just 13 seconds. The M5 has been given a power boost of 10% and a torque boost of 30% compared to the previous generation, V10 E60 M5. An M-specific chassis set-up includes M-tuned Servotronic steering, cockpit-adjustable dynamic damping and stability control with an ‘M Dynamic’ setting.
