CFMoto 450MT Launch Delayed In India Due To E20 Fuel Policy
CFMoto recently conducted pre-launch test rides of its upcoming adventure tourer, the 450MT, in India. The brand initially scheduled the motorcycle for a festive season launch. Recent policy changes have led the brand to delay its plans.
The Indian government now mandates that vehicles must be compatible with E20 fuel. CFMoto’s global team is remapping the 450MT’s engine to ensure compliance. These adjustments will ensure the motorcycle meets the updated fuel norms before launch.
Engine
CFMoto’s unnamed Indian partner will soon announce the brand’s official plans. The 450MT is powered by a 449cc parallel-twin engine. The engine produces 44 HP at 8500 rpm and 44 Nm of torque at 6250 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The 450MT has already earned positive reviews in international markets. Early prototype rides in India also showed promising results. However, its long-term success will be determined by pricing and after-sales service.
Expected Pricing
The motorcycle will be imported via the CKD route with 10% customs duty. New GST rules place it in the 40% bracket. Priced near Rs. 3.99 lakh, the motorcycle could be a strong contender.
Market Competition
At that price, the CFMoto 450MT will rival the KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and the BMW F450GS. The adventure segment is growing quickly in India. CFMoto could capture significant market share with aggressive pricing.
