Chevrolet Colorado Pickup To Be Showcased At 2016 Auto Expo

The Chevrolet Colorado is a full-size pickup truck sold in North America and underpins the TrailBlazer that recently went on sale in India.

The Colorado rivals the equally massive Ford F-150 in the pickup truck segment

General Motors has a lot planned for the Indian market that includes many new launches over the next couple of years. While we expect more mass market offerings going on sale in the country, the upcoming Auto Expo will see many of the automaker’s exciting American cars on display to satiate the enthusiast’s eyes. While the Camaro and Corvette muscle cars have been in attendance even at previous editions, Chevrolet will showcase the Colorado full-size pickup truck this year as a special treat.

India has a certain love for all things big and brawny and the Chevrolet Colorado fits rather well in that mindset, even if it’s not feasible for our narrow roads. For the 2016 edition, the Colorado comes with a host of features including a revised grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, MyLink infotainment system among other updates. In terms of power, the pickup is available in both petrol and diesel engine options in the US with the latter said to be the cleanest diesel truck engine ever produced by the company.

Engines include a 2.5-litre four-cylinder VVT petrol motor producing 200 HP and 258 Nm of torque as well as a 3.6-litre DOHC V6 petrol unit churning out 305 HP and 364 Nm of torque. Diesel power comes from a 2.8-litre Duramax four-cylinder unit producing 181 HP and 500 Nm of torque. The four-door pickup is available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options while All-Wheel Drive with automatic locking rear differential is part of the package.

All said, GM India has no plans to introduce the Colorado in India anytime soon, but you do get the TrailBlazer premium SUV based on the same platform, which makes for a more practical consolation. GM’s turnaround strategy for India includes a bigger and better Auto Expo for the company with the stall size said to be twice the size than before. Other exhibits are likely to include the production version of the Adra compact SUV concept along with the facelifted Cruze, Spin MPV and possibly the Sonic and Trax models as well.
