Chevrolet To Launch Captiva Facelift In March

The US based car manufacturer, General Motors who is present in India under the Chevrolet brand is planning to launch the facelift of its Captiva SUV in the month of March this year. The Captiva SUV hasn’t seen a very positive response from the Indian SUV customers in recent times which are primarily due to its bland looks when compared to its competitors. Chevrolet also understands this and thus is all set to bring in the facelifted version of the Captiva to the market to boost the dwindling sales.

One of the other negative factors behind its lacklustre response is its CBU route of sales in India which the company doesn’t plan to change with the new model also. The new Captiva will be sold via the same CBU route with local assembly plans only being put into action in case the volumes shoot up. Under the hood, the new Captiva will be powered by the same 2.0 litre diesel engine that is doing duty on the current Captiva. On the exterior, the Captiva gets a new front grille, new aggressive looking front bumpers and improved interiors.

The SUV market is seeing a good hike in demand and the new Captiva will definitely be a good move by the company in case the pricing is done well. The new Captiva facelift is expected to be launched by the end of March 2012 within a price bracket of Rs. 20 to 22 lakhs which is still pretty high in comparison to its competition. Chevrolet will have to face some hard time but with some good sales strategy maybe it will be able to pull it.
