Chevy Corvette CX & CX.R Vision Concepts Unveiled At The Quail, California
Chevy has unveiled the Corvette CX and CX.R vision concepts at The Quail, California. These radical visions reimagine America’s favourite sports car for an electrified future while building on heritage.
Corvette CX Vision Concept
The CX retains classic Corvette cues like the forward-lunging nose, sharp chine line, and dual taillights. Yet, the bodywork of the CX is dramatically futuristic. GM’s Motorsports Aero Group designed it with numerous vents, open channels, and even a vacuum fan system.
Powertrain
Power comes from four electric motors, one at each wheel, producing a colossal 2,000 horsepower. A 90 kWh battery supplies the energy. A fighter jet-style canopy grants access to the cockpit instead of doors.
Interior
Inside, the CX maintains its futuristic identity. Inferno Red upholstery meets carbon fibre, aluminium, and leather accents. A yoke steering wheel integrates controls, while the windscreen itself acts as a massive display.
Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo
Chevy also revealed the track-focused Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. This virtual racer wears aggressive aero, giant splitters, and Corvette Racing’s black-and-yellow livery. Designed exclusively for Gran Turismo 7, it pushes the concept further.
Engine
Unlike the all-electric CX, the CX.R blends combustion and electrification. The CX.R packs three motors plus a 2.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Revving to 15,000 rpm, the hybrid system produces another staggering 2000 HP.
Outlook
Unfortunately, neither the CX nor the CX.R will reach production. Instead, enthusiasts will have to make do with driving both digitally in Gran Turismo 7. However, these concepts preview the bold design and future of the Corvette.
