Citroen C3 Aircross Spied In India

It does have a nice design which would age well

An undisguised Citroen C3 Aircross test mule has been spied on public roads in Lucknow, recently.

The French carmaker will officially enter India with the launch of its C5 Aircross, which is expected to take place soon. While that will be a premium SUV, the carmaker will also launch a made-in-India compact SUV later this year.

It is possible that the Citroen C3 Aircross spied in India is being used for benchmarking, since the upcoming India-specific compact SUV from the carmaker is based on it. Or, it could be used for component testing as well.

Sporting a rather cutesy design, the C3 Aircross sports LED DRLs along the bonnet shut line which are connected to the grille upfront.

There is a main radiator grille situated below, flanked by the main headlight units and an air dam that also integrated the skid plate is situated at the bottom of the front bumper.

Along the sides, the car sports grey-coloured A-pillars, roof rails, door-mounted ORVMs with blinkers, large doors with sizeable side glasshouse and chunky cladding around the wheel arches.

At the rear, the C3 Aircross has a large tailgate and chunky bumper with a skid plate section along with nicely detailed tail lights. Also, all of the logos on the Citroen C3 Aircross spied on test have been covered.

The India-specific Citroen compact SUV (code-named C21) does carry the same design philosophy as the C3 Aircross. However, the spy pictures show that it would be markedly different.

Mass production of the car would commence in the second quarter (Q2) of FY22. So, we will not have to wait long to see the finished article after all.
