The Citroen C5 Aircross will come with 2.0-litre diesel engine only

Citroen had commenced operations in our country and the French carmaker was prepared to introduce their first product this year. The C5 Aircross was scheduled to launch during the festive season in 2020.

However, due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic, the launch has been shifted to Q1 2021. The C5 Aircross has also been confirmed to come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine in India.

The SUV was initially planned to launch with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. However, the company has now decided to bring it with the 2.0-litre diesel as the Aircross will be positioned in a premium space and performance should be in tune with the rivals.

It will be a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 180 HP, mated to a 8-speed automatic torque converter transmission. This will be the only powertrain on offer, no manual option and the C5 Aircross will be on sale with a single range-topping trim.

The flagship vehicle from Citroen is expected to be priced around Rs. 30 lakhs. While it is on the expensive side, it will benefit from the diesel engine advantage which no other European car at that price point offers as VW and Skoda are going petrol-only.

Some of the features include 6 airbags, electronic parking brake, dual-zone climate control, hands-free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, powered driver seat, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, etc.

Citroen is also coming up with a made in India compact SUV next year. It will have 90-95 percent localisation in India for a competitive price tag.
