Dacia Bigster Concept Previews Brand’s Upcoming Flagship SUV

It has a butch look to it, with lots of creases upfront

Romanian automaker Dacia has revealed the Bigster Concept, which, when put into production by 2025, would become the brand’s flagship SUV.

To be positioned above the Duster when it goes on sale, it is the automaker’s attempt to showcase that accessible products need not be boring.

Indeed, after clapping their eyes on it, one would hardly call it bland. Upfront, the slim but wide grille with illuminated elements are striking to look at, while the new signature y-shaped headlights blend well with the profile.

There is a large lower air dam, air vents either side and chunky cladding at the bottom, but the heavily creased bonnet does not look nice. The Dacia Bigster Concept has boxy looks, which is evident when looked at from the sides.

Pronounced fenders, trapezoidal wheel arches, high ground clearance, short front and large rear overhang, all contribute to the car having a good posture. Of course there are roof rails too, for it is an SUV.

Similarly, at the rear, where the design is clutter-free, the concept sports y-shaped tail lamps, a stubby tailgate and a big enough bumper.

Dacia motifs can be seen on the headlights, at the sides and all over the SUV really, and there is no chrome or aluminium-esque trim on the vehicle. Dacia says it has chosen to use recycled and unpainted materials, both inside and out, instead.

Overall, the car is just a few centimetres shorter than the Skoda Kodiaq which measures 4697 mm, so it is a good bit longer than the current-generation Duster sold abroad.

Due to it being fairly long, its maker says the SUV will come with a “very spacious interior” and is likely to get the option of a third row of seats.

To be built on Renault’s CMF-B platform, the Dacia Bigster Concept’s production version will come with petrol and petrol-hybrid powertrains.
