The Eicher-Polaris Flexituff has been developed with an investment of Rs. 250 crores and will be rivalling the Tata Magic Iris and the likes in the segment.

The Flexituff gets a pleasing design with black plastic cladding & a single wiper blade

Eicher-Polaris will be entering the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment later this year and the joint venture has been developing its maiden offering the ‘Flexituff’, which will be made available in several body styles. Earlier this month, MotorBeam revealed the three different body styles that the Flexituff will be offered in via the leaked patent images and now we can show you a clear image of the upcoming LCV’s front.

Getting a  pleasing design, the Eicher-Polaris Flexituff’s front fascia appears to be a mix of metal and black plastic. It features a single barrel headlamp flanked by the turn indicator while there is space to incorporate the logo in the centre. The bumper looks basic and gets a special enclosure for the registration plate. The LCV also gets a single wiper blade. Built on a tubular frame, the Flexituff will be using composite materials in its construction to keep the weight at a minimum.

As seen in the previous leaked patent images, the LCV will be available in hardtop, soft-top  and open-top body styles; while a twin-cab variant is also said to be on offer. On the inside, the cabin will be extremely basic featuring a three-dial instrument cluster, three-spoke steering wheel and a dash-integrated gearshift knob. The Eicher-Polaris Flexituff will be using the Greaves Cotton sourced 600cc diesel engine under the hood with a yet to be disclosed power output.

Power will be sent to the rear wheels via probably a 4-speed manual gearbox and is said to be a fuel-efficient unit returning 25 km/l. The Indo-American joint venture will manufacture the new LCV at its Jaipur based facility and has set an initial sales target of 10,000-12,000 units per annum, having spent Rs. 250 crores on the development of the Flexituff. An official launch is expected in the following months in the country.
