Ford Aspire Petrol Automatic Launch To Take Place Soon

Ford Aspire Facelift Long Term Review
The introduction of an automatic variant may get more people interested in the compact sedan

The Ford Aspire petrol automatic will come with a 6-speed torque converter gearbox

Ford is set to launch the Aspire petrol automatic variant pretty soon in India. The compact sedan will use the same powertrain as the Figo automatic launched last week.

That is because the Aspire is based on the Figo and even makes use of the same 1.2-litre petrol (96 PS and 119 Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel (100 PS and 215 Nm) engines that are on offer with the hatchback.

The Ford Aspire petrol automatic variant will make use of a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Like in the Figo automatic, it should come with a ‘Sport’ mode and allow manual gear selection as well.

Ford sells the Aspire only in Titanium and Titanium+ trims and both should get the automatic gearbox option, while the features list will see the addition of remote engine start.

The torque converter will be unique to the Aspire in the Indian compact sedan segment

As standard, the Aspire is equipped with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen, rear-view camera, push button start, Bluetooth connectivity, embedded navigation, Ford Pass, keyless entry, and more.

If the pricing of the Figo can be applied to the Aspire as well, then the price difference between the manual and automatic petrol variants of the compact sedan should be Rs. 93,000/-.

This would mean Ford will ask Rs. 8.20 lakhs for the Titanium automatic and Rs. 8.55 lakhs (both are ex-showroom prices) for the top-spec Titanium+ automatic.

When launched, the Ford Aspire automatic will join other cars in the compact SUV class, such as the Honda Amaze, which is due for a facelift, and Maruti Dzire, among others, that offer automatic variants.
