Ford EcoSport And Fiesta To Get 100 PS Power Now

Ford EcoSport 1.5 Petrol Review

Ford is going to equip the Figo Aspire compact sedan, EcoSport compact SUV and Fiesta sedan with the same drivetrain specifications.

The Ford Fiesta has featured in the worst-selling cars’ list

Ford has revealed the engine specifications and fuel efficiency figures of the new Figo Aspire officially. The automaker is also going to up the power figures of the EcoSport and Fiesta now. The EcoSport facelift made its debut in the global markets very recently and Ford boosted the 1.5-litre TDCi engine from 90 PS to 95 PS. However, the Indian version of the EcoSport facelift is going to get the same engine specifications as the Figo Aspire. Meaning, the diesel variants of the compact SUV will churn out 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque.

Apart from this, the Fiesta also comes with the same diesel engine and the manufacturer is going to increase the power ratings on the sedan too. So now, the Figo Aspire, EcoSport and Fiesta will use the exact same specifications when it comes to the 1.5-litre oil-burner. Mileage figures are also likely to improve by a small margin. Also, the EcoSport has a slightly heavy clutch so Ford is going to tweak it and make it lighter too. The engine will be pumping out more power thanks to a new map.

There is also a possibility of the new engine map being made available to existing EcoSport and Fiesta owners at the company’s authorised service centres. All three vehicles use the same 5-speed manual transmission and that is going to remain unchanged. The Figo Aspire comes with the turn indicator stalks on the right side and Ford will be making this change on other cars like the Fiesta too. At present, the turn indicator stalk is on the left side.

The global variants of the EcoSport also got minor suspension tweaks so there is a chance that the Indian version could get those changes too. While the EcoSport gets the option of six airbags, the Figo Aspire too is available with the same and the Fiesta will also be offered with side airbags on the updated model. The EcoSport facelift is expected to be launched around the festive season later this year while the changes on the Fiesta will appear in the near future itself.

The EcoSport will also lose its external spare wheel with the facelift
