Ford EcoSport Storm Leaked Ahead Of Brazil Launch, Gets AWD

Images of the Ford EcoSport Storm have surfaced on the internet soon after the automaker released teasers of the same.

The Ford EcoSport Storm was showcased in concept form at the 2014 Sao Paulo Auto Show

Making its global debut at the 2012 Auto Expo, the Ford EcoSport came out as a crowd-puller in whichever market it went. After rolling out the facelifted version in 2017, the American carmaker recently shared some teasers of the upcoming Ford EcoSport Storm edition which is slated for a launch in Brazil. Just as the audience was wondering that the images were not revealing enough, a couple of undisguised exterior shots of the EcoSport surfaced on the internet.

The leaked pictures reveal a host of cosmetic revisions to the Ford EcoSport which largely include blacked-out design elements lending a sporty and butch appearance. First up, there is a blacked-out front grill with Storm badging inspired by the Ford F-150 Raptor. In addition to the black treatment on the roof rails, rear view mirrors, headlamp units and fog lamp housings, black stripes present on either side of the bonnet and on the doors take up the appeal further.

The compact SUV comes clad with black fender flares and door handles, while the 17-inch alloy wheels are dipped in gloss black. On the inside, changes are seen in the form of orange trim around the centre console that adds some drama to the single-tone black cabin. The front seats are said to get a ‘Storm’ badging as well. Under the hood, the EcoSport Storm gets a 2.0-litre Direct Flex engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Running on ethanol, the motor develops 176 BHP of power and 221 Nm of torque. However, the high point of the Storm edition will be its all-wheel-drive system. It is unlikely that the company would bring the car to India as the facelifted EcoSport has arrived just a couple of months back. Meanwhile, we can expect facelifted versions of the Figo and Aspire along with a Figo Cross based on the former this year.
