Ford Figo & Aspire Facelift Testing Starts, Launch In 2018

Test mules of the Ford Figo and Aspire facelift have been spotted lately in Brazil and Turkey respectively.

The sub-4 meter version of the Ford Aspire doesn’t sell in Turkey currently

Ford has started testing the Figo and Aspire facelift as test mules of both the cars have been spotted recently. The Figo has been spotted testing in Brazil while the Aspire compact sedan has been spotted in Turkey.

The spotted Figo hatchback had been heavily camouflaged revealing very few details. However, a look at the test mule and one can guess that the hatchback will get minor tweaks on the headlight and front bumper with new lower air intakes. There are new alloy wheels and when it comes to the rear, there are only tweaks to the bumper.

The India bound Ford Figo will only come with cosmetic changes while the engine options remain the same. The Figo in India will continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel. The Brazil-spec Figo (sold as Ka in Brazil) is expected to be powered by a new 1.5-litre 3-cylinder Dragon petrol engine. Meanwhile, some reports suggest that the Figo facelift could get the option of an automatic gearbox with the new Dragon petrol engine.

The Ford Aspire test mule too wears heavy camouflage and like its hatchback sibling, it is also expected to get minor tweaks to the exterior while in the interior, Ford is expected to offer the much-needed touchscreen infotainment system.

The Ford Aspire sold globally is available in two different lengths, the first is a sub-4 meter version of the car manufactured and sold in India, and a few international markets like South Africa as well, while the second version based on the Aspire compact sedan is sold in South America and is slightly longer, with a more proportionate and larger boot.

Ford will be adding the new Dragon petrol engine to the Aspire sedan, however, the company has not confirmed whether this new powertrain will be making it to the India-spec model or not. Expect Ford to continue offering the 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines on the Aspire too.

Ford currently doesn’t sell the Aspire in Turkey but the test mule spied could mean that this car could debut in the Turkish market in the near future. Expect Ford India to launch the updated Figo and Aspire around the 2018 Auto Expo.
