I got my Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 a month ago. I am facing issues in revving. Revving beyond 4500 RPM is causing a lot of stress on the engine and eventually forcing me to change gears. When the engine goes beyond 4000-4500 RPM, I can make out that engine is in a lot of stress from the engine sound.
Because of this, my gear changing happens as follows:
1-10 km/hr – 1st gear
10-22 km/hr – 2nd gear
22-35 km/hr – 3rd gear
35-45 km/hr – 4th gear
45-55 km/hr – 5th gear
more than 55 km/hr – 6th gear
Due to this I have to keep changing gears so frequently when I am in the range of 15-45 km/hr in medium to heavy traffic. Also, I feel the engine is stressed out when I cross 85 km/hr in 6th gear. I feel I will damage the gearbox and engine if I continue beyond 80 km/hr since there is a lot of load on the engine.
My confusion is, is this normal for a new bike? Few people said that once the bike will become 6 months old it would rev properly. Is this because my gear-to-speed ratios are such? Is this because my bike is in break-in period?
Please help. I do not want to damage my new bike. Please suggest what to do.
