Harley-Davidson Updates Street 750, Iron 883, Forty-Eight For 2016

Harley-Davidson has upgraded a few bikes from its portfolio for the year 2016. The bikes get a few mechanical changes along with visual changes too.

The Dark Custom option gives a much different look to the Street 750

Harley-Davidson is the brand which dominates the upper end cruiser bike segment and has a huge cult following the world over. In India too, the bikes from the American company are hugely popular and an attention magnet. Whether it is dollops of chrome or the blacked out look, the Harleys do manage to please everyone. But, with the entry of many superbike brands in India who also have their cruiser offerings in different segments, the SuperLow maker has realised that it’s time to update its bike range. They have tweaked with a few bikes from the lineup for the model year 2016.

It is the more affordable bikes from the stable which get the most number of updates considering it is these which get volumes for Harley-Davidson in India. The cheapest offering from the brand, the Street 750 gets upgraded front and rear braking system as the earlier one lacked bite and got a lot of negative flak for the same reason. The Iron 883 gets new suspension at the front and rear which is adjustable using a spanner stored under the seat, lighter mag wheels and a more comfortable seat. The Forty-Eight gets retro styling cues, new wheels with a new tyre at the front, adjustable rear suspension and 49 mm front forks to make it more Indian road friendly.

These updates do make the bikes a bit more desirable. The Dark Custom option is available on all the three bikes now which gives the customers an option to own a bike customised in a certain manner. Apart from these updates, the Softail bikes now come with a Twin Cam 103 engine which earlier was available only on the Street Glide. The Heritage Softail Classic also gets electronic cruise control making longer journeys more effortless. Those who love touring on the bike can go for the Road King which will be relaunched in the country soon. A slight price rise is expected along with the updates.
