Plans of introducing the Hero HX250 have been axed as the company now intends to focus on 300cc and above bikes.

Hero confirms that a more advanced and better bike will be launched in the years to come but how many will wait for it?

Launch plans of the HX250 have been shelved by Hero as the automaker intends to focus on 300cc and above segments. Hero had unveiled the HX250R as a concept model at the 2014 Auto Expo and man it did garner some positive attention from the public. The company went on to showcase a near-production model of the bike at the 2016 Auto Expo. After almost 2 years since the unveil at the last Auto Expo, Hero has confirmed that the HX250 will not be launched in India as the company feels the 250cc segment has more or less disappeared and moved to 300cc and even larger displacements. They believe, that it does not make a wise decision to launch it now as it will not hit the ‘centre of gravity’ of the segment.

The Indian automaker, however, confirms that a more advanced and better bike is in the offing and we could probably see something at the 2018 Auto Expo. The HX250R draws power from a 249cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 31 HP of power and 23 Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the motor also gets fuel-injection. The concept bike at the 2016 Auto Expo was devoid of the R moniker (from the HX250R) and featured a twin headlamp setup with LED DRLs, LED tail-light, clip-on handlebar, split seats and two riding modes – City and Sport.

Meanwhile, the company has confirmed the launch of Xtreme 200S by February 2018. The XPulse concept showcased at the 2017 EICMA could also get into production next year and be launched as well.
