Honda Africa Twin Coming To India In 2026

Honda Africa Twin Coming To India In 2026, Will Be Brand’s Flagship ADV

Honda’s flagship adventure motorcycle, the Africa Twin, is returning to India in 2026 after a brief absence. Honda earlier discontinued it due to BS6 norms. During its absence, buyers had to make do with the NX500 or Transalp 750.

Variants

Previously, only the Adventure Sports variant was available in India, which was the most premium offering in the lineup. This time, Honda plans to introduce both the base and Adventure Sports versions itself. This option offers more choices in terms of pricing and features.

The Adventure Sports version features a 24.8-litre fuel tank and electronically adjustable suspension with extended suspension travel. The base model gets a smaller 18.8-litre tank and a lower windscreen. It also has a lower weight, improving off-road agility.

Suspension

Both variants are expected to include tubeless spoke wheels, which offer better puncture resistance. Higher trims of both models might feature electronic suspension. This caters to varied rider preferences across adventure touring needs.

Engine

Powering both versions is a 1083cc, liquid-cooled parallel twin engine producing 100 HP and 112 NM of torque. Transmission options include a manual gearbox and a DCT. Honda has not confirmed which transmission options will launch in India yet.

The base variant weighs 233 Kg, while the Adventure Sports with DCT weighs 253 Kg. This difference impacts handling and touring performance directly. Riders can choose based on their preferred balance of comfort and agility themselves.

Market Competition

In India, the Africa Twin will rival the BMW R 1300 GS, Triumph Tiger 1200, Ducati Multistrada, and KTM 1290 Super Adventure S. These are all top contenders in the premium adventure bike segment. The Africa Twin’s return adds fresh excitement to this competitive category.
