Honda is expected to launch the NX200 adventure motorcycle in August this year and take the fight to the Hero Xpulse 200.

To be based on the Hornet 2.0 naked bike, the small adventure motorcycle is likely to come with styling based on the CBF190X that was introduced in China last April.

Unlike the Xpulse, the Honda NX200 would be more of a road-going machine. Thus, it should feature a flyscreen, with Honda’s signature bodywork which will lend the motorcycle a muscular look.

The ergonomics should be like that of a tourer, meaning the rider will sit upright thanks to the raised handlebar and the feet should be in a comfortable angle as well.

Hornet 2.0’s suspension might be altered to suit the NX200

The Hornet 2.0’s 185cc motor should power the bike and expect the power and torque figures (17 HP and 16 Nm) to stay as is. The transmission should be a 5-speed unit possibly with revised ratios.

Being an adventure motorcycle, the Honda NX200 should come with adequate ground clearance (Hornet 2.0 has 167 mm of it) and tyres befitting its demeanour. Expect the bike to weigh a bit more than its naked counterpart.

When the Honda NX200 launch takes place, Hero’s Xpulse range will finally get a rival. However, the Japanese machine should cost more than the Xpulse (Priced at Rs. 1.21 lakhs) and be priced around Rs. 1.40 lakhs (prices are ex-showroom).
