Honda Shine Electric Bike Design Patent Revealed, Will Have Similar Battery Sizes To The Activa e:
Honda has filed a design patent for the electric version of the Shine. The brand’s entry into the electric 2-wheeler segment has had mixed results, with the Activa e: and QC1. These models had crucial misses but represent the initial steps in the brand’s broader EV strategy.
This is similar to how Tata and Hyundai converted popular petrol cars into electric versions. Honda seems ready to follow that successful formula in the two-wheeler segment.
Unlike the Activa e:, the Shine electric appears to share its mechanical foundation with the petrol-powered Shine 100. The patent shows the same frame but replaces the engine and fuel tank with an electric motor. It also features two compact battery packs mounted on the chassis.

This dual-battery setup suggests compatibility with Honda’s growing battery-swapping network in cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. The batteries should be similar in size and output to the Activa e packs. Each pack offers 1.5kWh, totaling 3kWh for the entire bike.
Honda is expected to use this swappable battery format across multiple electric models in the future. This standardisation could make recharging quicker and more convenient for users.
