Hyundai Alcazar Gets A New Trim, Becomes Cheaper To Afford Now

The Hyundai Alcazar is basically the 7-seater version the popular Creta

The new Hyundai Alcazar Prestige Executive variant brings down the base price of the SUV by Rs. 55,000/-

Hyundai has launched a new base-level trim, Prestige Executive, for its Alcazar SUV with a starting price of Rs. 15,89,400/- (ex-showroom). This move comes in the wake of almost all of its competitors having competitive starting prices.

In fact, the all-new Mahindra Scorpio N and the previously-launched Mahindra XUV700 have made all the midsize 6+ seaters look costlier now. With the addition of the new trim, the Alcazar’s entry-level price has become cheaper by Rs. 55,000/-.

Earlier, the Prestige was the entry-level trim and had a starting price of Rs. 16,44,400/- (ex-showroom). The new Prestige Executive comes in 3 variants – Petrol Manual, Diesel Manual, and Diesel Automatic with price going up to Rs. 17,77,300/- (ex-showroom).

While there are 3 variants, customers can choose from 4 different seat configurations – 7-seater Petrol Manual, 6 or 7-seater Diesel Manual, and 7-seater Diesel Automatic. As far as features are concerned, the new Prestige Executive misses out on some crucial ones.

The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been replaced by a smaller 8-inch unit. This is the same 1 that’s present in some mid-spec Cretas. It gets voice commands and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Hyundai is also testing the CNG variant of the Alcazar

The system comes with only 1 mic instead of 2 and powers 4 factory-fitted speakers and 2 tweeters. Other big misses are connected car tech, auto-dimming IRVMs, SOS button, burglar alarm, and chrome-finished outside door handles.

The new base-level trim retains rest of the features of the regular Prestige trim including the panoramic sunroof, LED headlights and tail lamps, reversing camera, cruise control, etc.

The petrol engine is a 2-litre naturally aspirated unit paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox and the diesel is a 1.5-litre unit mated either to a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox on the new Prestige Executive trim.

Hyundai Alcazar’s starting price is still expensive than the Mahindra Scorpio N, XUV700, and Tata Safari.
