Hyundai Alcazar To Feature 2.0-Litre Petrol Engine Option

Looks like Hyundai does not want the Alcazar to come off as just a Creta with extra seats and that applies to the engines offered with the car as well.

While there was no doubting the fact that the Creta’s 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines will be used in the Alcazar, there was nothing concrete about the carmaker using its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor for the new SUV.

It has now come to light that the soon-to-be launched 3-row SUV from Hyundai will get a 2.0-litre petrol engine option. It is the same engine that does duty on the Elantra and the Tucson and makes 152 PS and 192 Nm of torque.

Hyundai will offer a 6-speed automatic transmission apart from a manual (which will be the mainstay) with this engine, and the 1.5-litre petrol motor would likely be given the boot (for this model alone).

This should help set the Alcazar apart from the very popular 5-seat SUV it is based on and should go some way in justifying the premium price tag that the 3-row SUV will command.

Only this past week did Hyundai release a few official design sketches of the Alcazar, while images of the production-spec model also surfaced online almost immediately.

Apart from the engines, Hyundai Alcazar is also expected to get a new set of features, in addition to the ones already offered with the Creta, while also being a touch more practical.

The car should make life tough for the new Tata Safari and MG Hector when it goes on sale
