Hyundai Compact SUV To Get 1.0-Litre Turbo Petrol Engine

Hyundai HND14 Concept 4

The upcoming Hyundai compact SUV will be getting a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine along with a 1.4-litre oil-burner.

The new compact SUV won’t carry the same styling as the Carlino

We all know that Hyundai is developing a new compact SUV that is going to be positioned below the Creta. The new compact SUV will be based on the Carlino concept that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The vehicle won’t carry the design of the Carlino and it is likely to follow Hyundai’s usual styling philosophy.

The compact SUV will be offered with the 1.4-litre CRDI diesel engine that also offers the i20 Active, Creta and Verna but now it has also come to light that the vehicle will be offered with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The engine produces 118 HP of power and Hyundai says that it has a good mid-range which will be useful for the car.

This is the same engine that is already doing duty on the i20 that is sold in global markets. The upcoming compact SUV will be sub 4-metres in length and hence it will compete with the Mahindra TUV300, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. Hyundai will launch the car in India in 2018.
