Hyundai Grand i10 Diesel Discontinued

Hyundai Grand i10 Pros & Cons

Hyundai has discontinued the diesel engine option and automatic transmission in the Grand i10.

The Grand i10 is now only available in two variants Magna and Sportz

With the launch of the new Grand i10 NIOS in the market, Hyundai has made some omissions in the regular Grand i10. The Hyundai Grand i10 now doesn’t offer a diesel engine option. It is only available in petrol and CNG powertrain options.

The hatchback is now being offered in two trim levels Magna and Sportz. There is no automatic transmission on offer as well. The regular Grand i10 now only comes with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard across the range.

The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine produces 83 HP and 114 Nm of torque. The bi-fuel CNG version produces 81.6 HP and 110 Nm when run on petrol and 66.3 HP and 98 Nm when run on CNG. The CNG version is available only with the entry-level Magna trim.

Some of the features that will no longer be available with the Grand i10 include chrome door handles, smart key with push button start, alloy wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control system, rear washer and wiper, luggage lamp, driver seat height adjust, adjustable rear headrests.

We have noticed this pattern of Hyundai when they continue selling older models so that they don’t cannibalise with the new model’s pricing. Same was the case with the first gen i10 when the Grand i10 got launched. Hyundai had cut down on trim levels and the 1.2-litre Kappa engine got discontinued in the i10 when the Grand i10 was launched.
