Hyundai Tucson Sport Gets Power Boost & Cosmetic Tweaks

Hyundai has launched a sportier variant of the Tucson in South Africa, the Hyundai Tucson Sport.

The Hyundai Tucson Sport is available only with a petrol engine

Hyundai launched the SUV Tucson in South Africa 13 months ago and has now introduced a sportier variant of the SUV and named it the Tucson Sport. The Hyundai Tucson Sport features more aggressive styling and upgraded performance.

Visually, the Hyundai Tucson Sport gets additional body kit consisting of front, side and rear skirts. The vehicle also features Tiger Wheel and Tyre’s exclusive 19-inch black alloy wheels with low-profile tyres. The rear gets four chrome exhaust pipes. The rest of the body work, however, is identical to the regular model.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Tucson Sport runs a 1.6-litre T-GDI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 201 HP and 295 Nm of torque – up by 27 HP and 30 Nm, all thanks to a remapped ECU. This engine comes paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. However, an all-wheel drive system is missed.

Features like automatic climate control, electrically adjustable leather seats, 8-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation, reverse camera, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, driver, front passenger, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and ESP are standard on the Hyundai Tucson Sport.

Priced at 4,99,900/- South African Rands (approximately Rs. 24,93,955/-), the Hyundai Tucson Sport still comes with 7-year or 2,00,000 kms warranty, despite the aftermarket accessories.
