India Bound 2016 Toyota Innova Officially Revealed In Indonesia [Video]

The second generation Innova gets strong improvements over the outgoing versions with a more feature loaded cabin and will be making its Indian debut next year.

The 2016 Innova draws power from a new 2.4 GD diesel motor

Bringing an end to months of spy shots, leaks and teasers, Toyota has officially revealed the 2016 Innova MPV in Indonesia that comes with a series of comprehensive upgrades as well as a host of new tech on offer. One of the best sellers for Toyota in Asia, the new generation Innova comes with an evolved styling retaining the silhouette from the outgoing model but with a more modern, premium and sharper appearance.

A host of elements come from Toyota’s global design philosophy with the front fascia getting a massive trapezoidal grille with a twin-slat unit extending up to either side. The headlight cluster looks sharp integrating projector lights and LED DRLs, and seamlessly merges into the front fender. The bonnet gets muscular elements providing a dominating presence to the MPV. The 2016 Innova looks less bulkier than its predecessor and gets new 16-inch alloy wheel options (17-inch on the top trim) while the D-pillar is redesigned.

At the rear, the 2016 Toyota Innova gets horizontally stacked tail lights extending all the way to the centre of the tailgate while also extending vertically. A roof mounted rear spoiler is visible while the exhaust tip is positioned downward. Inside the cabin, the new generation Innova continues to come with seven or eight seater options and gets new fabric upholstery, cabin trays and ambient lighting. The dashboard is completely new and gets wood inserts for a premium look complete with a multi-function steering wheel, new TFT MID unit, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and dual zone auto climate control.

The second generation Toyota Innova also gets Eco, Normal and Power modes that can be toggled with buttons located below the air-con controls. In terms of power, the Indonesia spec models uses a 2.0-litre Dual VVT-i petrol motor producing 139 PS at 5600 RPM and 183 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. Also new is the 2.4-litre GD diesel engine churning out 149 PS at 3400 RPM and 360 Nm of torque between 1200-2600 RPM. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and automatic units. The new diesel heart will be the mainstay unit in India and is more refined and vibration free than the motor it replaces while the new Innova is also said to be quicker than the outgoing model.
