India Bound Hyundai ix25 Revealed In New Spy Shots

The Hyundai ix25 will go on sale in China on 9th October and ahead of its official launch, the compact SUV was spotted completely undisguised revealing the exteriors and interiors. All set to compete against the Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Juke, Honda Vezel and the likes in the segment, the ix25 will be the smallest SUV in Hyundai’s portfolio and was first showcased as a concept at the Beijing Motor Show in March this year. As the images indicate, the overall design language has been retained from the concept, albeit with certain smaller changes to make the vehicle production viable.

Changes on the production spec Hyundai ix25 include minor tweaks to the headlight cluster that retain LEDs and projector lamps, revised front grille with chrome and mild changes to the bumper design and skid plate. The rear remains the same as the concept with smaller changes to the bumper. On the inside, the cabin looks spacious and very premium with a lot of influence coming from the larger Santa Fe SUV. The dual-tone interiors and the well laid out dashboard look pleasing to the eye. The lines are more restrained, instead of the fluidic touch and the overall fit and finish looks impressive.

Engine options in China include the 1.6-litre petrol motor producing 116 HP as well as a 2.0-litre petrol mill producing 148 HP of power. Transmission options are most likely to be a 6-speed manual and automatic option that will send power to either the front wheels or all four wheels. Early online reports also suggested that the ix25 will be available in 7 variants spread across two engine options and would be priced between Rs. 12.56 – Rs. 18.37 lakhs (Indian equivalent).

In India, you can expect the Hyundai ix25 compact SUV to share its powertrain with the Verna sedan and will sport the 1.4-litre or 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options under the hood. We also expect the four-wheel drive variant to make it to the country. The ix25 will be launched in India in the first half of 2015 and like a true Hyundai, expect the compact SUV to come with a plethora of gadgetry on offer. Prices for the ix25 are likely to start at around Rs. 8 lakhs for the base petrol, going up to Rs. 13 lakhs for the top-end diesel model.
