Algerian distributor for Suzuki, Elsecom Automobile has showcased the new Maruti Alto 800 and Alto K10 hatchbacks ahead of the launch later this year in the country. Shipped from the Maruti Suzuki facility in Manesar, the Algerian spec Suzuki Alto 800 and K10 models get several upgrades compared to the Indian version with the most prominent being the additional safety features and an updated dashboard. Suzuki has updated both the Alto 800 and K10 with dual airbags and ABS, whereas the Indian version only makes do with a driver side airbag. ABS is unheard of in any Alto variant in India.

While the exteriors are same as the Indian version on the Algerian Suzuki Alto models, the interiors of the Alto 800 have been carried over from that of the K10, infusing a premium look to the entire cabin. Differentiating the model though is the all-black theme instead of the dual-tone beige and black colour scheme seen on the Alto K10. In addition, the dashboard comes loaded with an inbuilt audio system with AUX connectivity; whereas the front seat headrests are height adjustable unlike the integrated ones seen on the Indian version.

In terms of powertrain, the Suzuki Alto 800 uses the same India spec 796cc 3-cylinder petrol engine tuned to produce 48 PS and 69 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Alto K10, on the other hand, gets the 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine producing 68 PS and 90 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Suzuki won’t be launching the Alto K10 with the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) unit that is currently seen on the Indian version. Suzuki will be formally presenting the Alto hatchbacks at the Motor Show in Algiers, thereby commencing marketing activities prior to the launch.
