India Assembled Mercedes-Maybach GLS Launched, Priced At Rs. 2.75 Crores

Locally assembled Maybach GLS introduced in India with lower pricing and unchanged specs

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the locally assembled Maybach GLS in India at a price of Rs. 2.75 crores (ex-showroom), marking a price reduction of Rs. 42 lakhs compared to the previously imported model. India now becomes the first market outside the United States to assemble the Maybach GLS.

The earlier fully imported Maybach GLS carried a price tag of Rs. 3.17 crores. Local assembly has lowered the entry price, positioning the SUV more competitively within the ultra-luxury segment. The move aligns with Mercedes-Benz India’s broader strategy of expanding local production for select high-end products.

The version on sale was last refreshed in 2024 and continues with styling updates introduced at that time. These include a redesigned chrome-heavy front grille, updated bumpers, revised LED lighting elements and distinct exhaust treatment. The SUV sits on 22-inch wheels as standard, with new 23-inch designs offered as options.

The Maybach GLS 600 uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an integrated starter generator that assists with additional torque and power delivery. Combined output stands at 550 BHP, with the mild-hybrid system contributing up to 22 BHP and 250 Nm. The vehicle is equipped with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100 km/hr time of 4.9 seconds and an electronically capped top speed of 250 km/hr.

Airmatic air suspension is standard, while the E-Active Body Control system – featuring a dedicated Maybach mode – is available as an optional upgrade. The equipment list includes Level 2 ADAS features, a 360-degree camera system, active parking assist and the Guard 360 protection suite.

Alongside the launch, Mercedes-Benz India shared its 2025 calendar year sales performance. The company delivered 19,007 units, marginally lower than the previous year in volume terms, while achieving its highest annual revenue to date. Sales distribution was led by the Core segment at 62 percent, followed by Top-End models at 25 percent and Entry models at 13 percent.
