Indonesia Starts Modifying The Yamaha R25, New Ad Released

It is no hidden secret that Indonesia is the land of quarter-litre bikes. The country just loves 250cc motorcycles courtesy of the government norms and it is a major reason why Yamaha chose to unleash its beast the R25 in the Asian sub-continent first. However, Indonesia is also known for expansive modifications and once again the country has given its special touch to the R25 as well. Just days after the initial deliveries commenced for the first 2800 buyers that booked online, one of the customers modified the R25 to match her personal taste and give the quarter-litre rocket a unique touch.

Images of this Yamaha R25 have surfaced online where the bike was modified by a specialist named Berkat Motor located in the Banten province of Indonesia. The owner states that the modification is on the initial stages and a full-fledged customised plan is still pending. However, improving the aesthetics on the customised R25 are the 3.5-inch wide 3-spoke alloy wheels done up in white coupled with a shade of blue in the centre. The front wheel gets wrapped in a 120/60/17 tyre (stock tyre is 110/70/17), while the rear comes with a massive 180/55/17 tyre (stock tyre is 140/70/17). Adding improved stopping power are dual disc brakes at the front with Brembo callipers.

The owner states that these are just the initial set of modifications and more custom parts are on its way. A bump in power is also planned from the 250cc twin-cylinder engine that currently produces 36 PS of power and 22.6 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed transmission. Yamaha Indonesia has been swept by its feet with the demand for the R25 in the country. The company managed to achieve a quarter of its annual first year target of 10,000 units within a day and has received a great response ever since.

Yamaha Indonesia will also manufacture the R25 for all global markets from its plant in East Jakarta and will export the bike to 14 new markets next year including Japan and India, while a total of 30 countries will receive the bike in the coming years. Competing against the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC 390 in India, the Yamaha R25 will be priced around Rs. 2.75-3 lakhs in India and is most likely to be brought in as a CKD model.
