January 2019 served to be a good start for the 2-wheeler industry, Splendor and Activa still dominate sales.

Bajaj Pulsar series see a 50% increase in sales and move to the fifth spot

Hero Splendor continues to take the first position consistently over the months, with seeing a good 26 percent rise from December last year. Hero HF Deluxe too had a good increase of 18 percent. Honda Activa is a customer favorite which helped it get the second spot in the overall top 2-wheeler charts and first in the scooter market. In Royal Enfield, the Classic 350 is a better performer than the others even after falling three spots down, sitting on the 13th position.

The Bajaj Pulsar series saw an increase of 85,099 units from 56,763 units. Honda CB Shine saw a manifold increase of 75% from December 2018 to January 2019. Hero Maestro sees an 88% rise in sales from December ’18 to January ’19.

Well performing 2-wheelers are Hero Pleasure, Honda Dio and Hero Glamour with a commendable increase of 92 percent, 50 percent and 81 percent in sales respectively. The TVS Sport saw a drastic negative trend of 21 percent. Mahindra continues to see a decline in sales in January too.

Apart from the scooters in the top ten, Honda Dio performed well with an increase of 46,854 units from 31,195 units. TVS Pep+ misses out on the top 25 spot and Yamaha Fascino sees only a 2 percent increase in sales. Suzuki Burgman does not make it to the top 25 list. The Bajaj V15 faced a 91 percent decrease in sales, with the company selling only 393 units in January. The Honda Cliq and Navi had negligible sales and are supposed to face the axe sooner or later.
